How to make a referral to Helping Hands
We understand that the transition to homecare can be daunting, and we’re here to support you through every step of the process. To put you at ease, we have a page dedicated to how homecare works.
This is why we’ve made our three-step referral process as simple and stress-free as possible.

Step one: Get in touch with your nearest Helping Hands branch
You can choose to call, email, or fill in the contact form of your nearest Helping Hands branch, whether you’re looking for homecare services in East Northumberland or West Northumberland.
We’ll be in touch as soon as possible to answer your queries and book your free, no-obligation initial assessment.
Step two: Home visit and care assessment
Our at-home care assessments are a chance for our visiting carers to meet the service user in the comfort of their own home, whether our services are for yourself or a loved one.
We’ll ask a few questions to assess the service user’s care needs, and make a note of any personal preferences, requirements, and goals.
These no-obligation assessments are completely free. They’re also a great opportunity for family members to express any opinions, so we can offer reassurance and answer questions.

Step three: Review your bespoke care plan
We’ll then use all of the information from the assessment to develop a fully bespoke care plan. This is what our visiting carers will use to deliver the most personalised, targeted homecare.
Our bespoke care plans typically include everything from the homecare services required, delivery methods, and any other useful information to support our personalised approach.
We will be able to start providing our homecare services as soon as the plan has been approved.
