Our dementia homecare services

With over 30 years of experience in delivering high-quality homecare services in Northumberland, the Helping Hands team provides bespoke support, tailored to each individual. We have full training in offering dementia care at home.

The primary goal of dementia homecare is to help service users benefit from the familiarity of their own home.

We recognise that dementia affects everybody differently, and we will always adapt our care plans to ensure the most beneficial solutions. Your dementia care plan may include one or more of the following areas of support:

  • Help with everyday personal care tasks, such as washing and dressing.
  • Support around the home, including cooking and cleaning.
  • Specialist support for those dealing with memory loss or behavioural challenges.
  • Establishing structured routines and reminders.
  • Managing healthcare risk factors, such as diabetes or high blood pressure.
  • Medication management.
  • Respite care for family members and loved ones.

Our dementia care at home always centres on creating a safe and comfortable environment. We also collaborate closely with family members and will always provide honest updates.

Depending on the individual’s requirements, a care plan for a dementia patient at home may also include other types of homecare, from physical homecare support to complex homecare services

Arrange a dementia homecare assessment with Helping Hands

We aim to make finding the right dementia homecare for yourself or a loved one as straightforward and stress-free as possible. Follow our three-step onboarding process for bespoke homecare services.

Step one: Contact your nearest Helping Hands branch

We offer homecare services in Northumberland, covering locations including Ashington, Bellingham, Corbridge, and Morpeth.

You can call, email, or submit an online contact form to get in touch with your nearest Helping Hands branch. A member of our helpful team will get in touch with you as soon as possible.

Step two: Join us for a free, no-obligation initial assessment

We’ll start by arranging a free at-home assessment to learn more about you or your loved one. We’ll visit the service user in the comfort of their own home and discuss their dementia experience, care requirements, challenges, and homecare preferences.

We encourage family members to offer as much open and honest information as possible so we can develop the most suitable care plan.

Step three: Take a look at our proposed care plan

We’ll develop a bespoke dementia care plan based on the information gathered during the initial assessment. This will detail:

  • The homecare services to be delivered
  • Visiting times and frequencies
  • Carer allocations
  • Service user preferences
  • Methods of service delivery
  • And any other relevant information

Once the care plan has been approved, we can schedule our homecare visits.

FAQs

Can dementia homecare services be combined with other services?

Absolutely. We recognise that many types of care requirements are closely interlinked and so we can combine our range of support services. For example, a service user requiring dementia care at home may also need support with personal homecare and complex homecare. They may also wish to receive enabling homecare to promote as much independence as possible. We will always tailor our care plans to best suit the individual.
