Enabling care
Our enabling care and independent living services
Our enabling care services are designed to support independence. Our visiting carers are fully trained and qualified to help service users re-learn, manage, and take control of daily tasks in a safe and supportive environment.
Independent supported living is hugely beneficial for many individuals, especially those looking to regain autonomy after illness, injury, or a sudden hospital stay.
We know that enabling care can look different for everyone, which is why we curate bespoke care plans to ensure that all needs, goals, and requirements are met.
Personal care
Dignified assistance with washing, dressing, toileting, and grooming. Our visiting carers will be on hand to encourage and support rather than overstep.
Day-to-day domestic assistance
Compassionate support with household tasks, including washing, cleaning, tidying, cooking, and shopping. The goal is to improve confidence and independence wherever possible.
Medication oversight
Helpful prompts and gentle reinforcement to encourage service users to build their own medication management routines. This can help build a sense of autonomy and confidence.
Physical support
Hands-on support with safe transfers and mobility in and out of the home. We can also provide recommendations for mobility aids for an improved sense of autonomy.
Companionship care
Genuine emotional support offered through 1-2-1 quality time, which can help reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Our services can be extended, reduced, or combined as needed. Feel free to check out our full range of homecare services, or contact us for more information.
Why choose Helping Hands for enabling care?

All of our homecare services are delivered with our core values of dignity, respect, and compassion. These values allow us to ensure the highest standard of care at all times.
As independent living visiting carers, it is our job to create a positive and encouraging environment for all of our service users, regardless of age, ability, or medical condition. This is a responsibility that we take pride in, and the difference is noticeable.
As well as loving what we do, we have over 30 years of experience within the homecare sector. We know how important flexibility and transparency are to our service users and their families, and this is something we always aim to provide through our flexible delivery options.
Our services can be provided in the form of day homecare, overnight homecare, or couples’ homecare to suit your needs. They can also be extended, reduced, or combined as required.

The care plan can also be adapted. Once approved, our enabling care and independent living services can begin as soon as you’re ready.
FAQs
Can anyone have enabling care?
Enabling care service users can vary in age, ability, and medical condition. It is a type of care suited to anybody looking to regain independence and confidence following an illness, injury, accident.
Is enabling care a short-term solution?
The ultimate goal of enabling care is that the service user will one day feel confident enough to carry out their care activities independently. However, there is no set timeline, and this is something we respect. All of our services can be used as short-term or long-term solutions, and we can adapt our delivery as needed.
