Care Support Officer – Cramlington

We are now recruiting for a Care & Support Officer to join our Specialist & Complex Care Team, based from Cramlington, Northumberland.

Specialist Team support Service Users with many complex requirements, including, but not limited to learning disabilities; childcare and family services; autism; mental health; post traumatic injury and challenging behaviour.

Role Purpose / Duties;

Our Care & Support Officers ensure we provide consistent high quality care. The role assists us in meeting both company and CQC standards; acting as the interface between Management and Support Worker colleagues with the agenda of ensuring our service users receive quality care 100% of the time.

Duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Ensure the care we provide is complaint with both CQC requirements and our own internal procedures;
  • Travel to our service user’s homes, auditing the quality of their care provision, including medication; providing recommendations / action plans to promote improved working practice, where necessary;
  • Timely escalation of any safeguarding concerns to management and relevant authorities;
  • Manage and support a team of care workers, organising and undertaking supervisions and observations and completing relevant documentation;
  • Champion company policies and procedures, providing coaching, where necessary, to Support Workers, whilst also highlighting any risks or concerns to management;
  • Collaborate with the training team to ensuring bespoke training courses are regularly facilitated to ensure our care team competence is maintained;
  • Work flexibly to account for our 24 hour service and ‘On-Call Service’;
  • Support our Care Coordination colleagues with any relevant information concerning both Service Users and Support Workers.
  • Accountable to Registered Manager

The successful candidate:

  • Experience working in Specialist Care – possible with a background as a Senior Carer or in a similar role.
  • Ideally you will have previously experience within health & social care and NVQ L3 in health & social Care or equivalent;
  • Hold a Medication Qualification;
  • Good report writing abilities for the accurate recording of information;
  • Passionate about quality care provision;
  • Driving Licence with access to own vehicle;
  • Comfortable with covering Northumberland – specifics will be discussed at interview.

Benefits:

  • Permanent, full time position;
  • Salary up to £20,000 p.a. depending upon relevant experience;
  • Mileage payments for attended appointments.

Care Coordinator – Hexham

Our Care Coordinators play a vital role in effectively resource planning, and coordinating our home care support workers’ schedules, ensuring our service user appointments are attended.

Duties to include:

  • Planning the weekly schedules of some of our 450 strong care team around their individual availability using our resource planning software;
  • Formulating solutions for changes in schedules. Our resource planning constantly changes for numerous reasons, for example, holidays, shift swaps, and new care packages;
  • Dealing with a diverse range of characters and personalities you will ensure the company delivers high quality care in the community which is both timely and reliable;
  • Diffusing difficult situations and focusing upon a customer oriented solution, every time;
  • Handling enquiries from a variety of external partners including Nurses; Crisis Teams; Doctors; Guardians; Day Centres; Hospitals; Contracts and Family Members;
  • Shifts will be allocated between the hours of 8am – 8pm over a 7 day week. You will also be required to support our ‘out of office on call service’ on a periodic basis. This is a full time position (circa 40 hours per week).

The successful candidate;

  • Highly organised
  • Methodical and an effective problem solver
  • Works well under pressure
  • Enjoys a busy office environment and is able to work to strict deadlines
  • Caring and conscientious nature
  • Enthusiastic and reliable
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office packages (CareFree experience desirable but not essential)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The role very much relies upon the successful person to be socially adaptable, and crucially, calm under pressure. You’ll be organised, have great customer service skills, and a solution-oriented, positive attitude.
